Maya Green Mortman

Maya is a bassist from northwest Connecticut, based between Boston and NYC. She tours the US and internationally with Future Teens, a Boston-based “bummer pop” indie rock band. Future Teens has been featured on NPR, The Boston Globe, and WBUR, and was Boston Music Awards’ 2019 Alt/Indie Artist of the Year. Maya also performs around New England playing party and dance music.

She studied upright bass at Berklee College of Music, where she earned the Bass Department Outstanding Performer Award and Scholarship. She has a BA in English and French from Skidmore College (‘13).

Maya teaches bass and guitar at Indian Mountain School and Millbrook School, as well as privately. She has volunteered with Girls Rock Camp Boston and worked as booking manager with Tunefoolery Music, a non-profit serving musicians in mental health recovery.
