Maya Green Mortman
Maya is a bassist from northwest Connecticut. She has seven years national and international touring experience with Future Teens, a Boston-based “bummer pop” indie rock band. Future Teens was featured on NPR, The Boston Globe, and WBUR, and was Boston Music Awards’ 2019 Alt/Indie Artist of the Year. She has filled in on tours with Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties and John Allison Weiss. Maya also performs in an award-winning wedding and corporate band playing dance music through the decades.
Maya studied upright bass at Berklee College of Music, where she earned the Bass Department Outstanding Performer Award and Scholarship. She has a BA in English and French from Skidmore College (‘13).
Maya taught bass and guitar at Indian Mountain School and Millbrook School, as well as maintaining a private teaching studio since 2020. She has volunteered with Girls Rock Camp Boston and worked as booking manager with Tunefoolery Music, a non-profit serving musicians in mental health recovery.
